Monday morning we walked over to look at Muumbe's school. The classrooms are all full and the children are excelling. The 7th grade just received their results from their exams and 100% passed! The ladies from Kanyama started harvesting the pumpkin leaves that Alfred had planted in his vegetable plot. The cabbages were not ready yet, but are going to be huge in a few weeks. We then went to look a some land that was given to the church a number of years ago. The land is outside of Lusaka 40 minutes or so and is underutilized. We talked about some ways to potentially utilize this land for the benefit of the church. We then went to meet the staff for the PWC national office and the ILISA national office. After lunch we went by the Zambia Institute of Special Education. They teach Special Ed teachers at this school. We gave them an 18 volume Braille Bible. They called a blind young man out of class who is learning to be a special ed teacher to come read to us. He goes to church but was reading the Bible for the first time in his life! After lunch we went to the new Emanuel Pilgrim Wesleyan Church. This church is a plant from the nearby John Howard PWC, where Richwell has pastored for a number of years. They have the walls up and rafters in and are holding church in the roofless building. The attendance is running close to 150 per Sunday! Quite understandably, they are anxious to complete the building before the rains start. We then went to have dinner with Genesis and his wife. This morning we went to church at Kanyama Pilgrim Wesleyan Church. The children sang and spoke a memorized speech and Bible verses! Then the "Lovely Sisters" sang, followed by the choir and lastly the praise team. Brian gave the sermon today on 2 Timothy 1:7. We arrived safely in Lusaka around 9 pm. While waiting in line to board the flight from JNB to LUN, Brian saw 2 young girls with Jayhawks on their shirts. Brian asked them where they were from and they said Kansas City. They were 4th year med students at KU and were doing a short rotation out of the US. They were headed to a mission hospital in the northern part of the country. We gave them a ride to Zambia Backpacker Hostel, where they were meeting 1 other KU med student to spend 2 nights and fly out Monday.
