We drove from Choma to Jembo Bible College today. The church owns 500 acres that are being underutilized. Two tractors have been placed there to help farm the land. The land there has a lot of potential, with several wells that could be used for irrigation.

This morning we drove thru rain on muddy roads to look at the church at Siansowa. We then continued on and crossed rain swollen streams for 2 more hours to Muuka School for the handover ceremony of the teacher house that was built there. Government officials and the government run newspaper also came by 4-wheel drive for the ceremony. After the ceremony we traveled 4 hours on mud roads then 1 more hour on paved roads to Choma to spend the night.

This morning the team toured the Zimba Hospital. Brian, Cory, Alfred and Joan went to look at Alfred's farm in Choma. We talked to a good farmer near there who has 10'-12' corn, as well as tobacco growing on his farm. We were able to get a lot of good information from him about crop production in the Southern Province. We then walked across some of his other property to see how the more traditional farmers corn looked. It varied from a few inches tall to 6' tall. We then drove to near Siansowa Village to spend the night.

This morning we drove to Sons of Thunder for lunch. After lunch, some of the team looked at their clinic, while the others looked at the farming projects. They are still using small farming techniques that will directly benefit the local farmers. Brian and Cory then stayed behind to look at the pond that had been built with the dozer and other projects. The rest of the team went to enjoy Victoria falls. We met back in Livingstone and drove back to Zimba to spend the night.

Brian. Alfred, and Craig left today to go to Choma and drop Lindi & Lulu off at boarding school. Then the were going to take Craig to the orphanage under construction. The rest of us went to Simweendengwe. The ladies gave out hygiene packets and treated wounds for the children at the school. There were approx 300 children. John and some of the rest of us went to work cattle. We only brought dewormer for 300 cattle and there were 800-900 there. Since there was no way to choose which 300 would be treated, the Agricultural Dept. official decided we should not treat any. But we also learned that the cattle need to be dipped to treat for tick borne diseases. We gathered after dinner to talk about what we have experienced on the trip thus far.

Arrived at 8:30 pm and got to bed early at about 10:30.
