First off the apology. I try to update the blog at least daily while we are in Zambia. In past years, I've had a couple of options including texting to the blog or emailing to the blog. This year for some reason neither worked for several days.
We had a wonderful productive trip again.
Thanks for reading and letting us share with you,
Cory

Friday 2/2/18
We finished out our trip visiting Zimba Mission Hospital. They have a brand new administration building! The improvements Dr. Dan and Joan have made to this hospital are simply amazing!
We finished our trip by driving from Zimba to Livingston for a look at the Falls. Lunch in town then dinner at the hotel. We will fly out tomorrow afternoon at 1:00.

Thursday 2/1/18
We left Choma and headed west. First stop Leonard's farm. He has started a new farm and moved his son there. He will follow in a few more months.
Leonard's vision is to teach others how to make money through farming to care for orphans and vulnerable children. He is building multiple small projects to demonstrate this concept to others.
He has done a tremendous amount of work on his new farm. Some of the things he has done thus far are: piggery, hatching and raising chickens, raising goats, raising cattle, vegetable gardening, raising crops (other than corn). His garden plot is 2.4 acres and he already has it fenced with game wire to keep out all animals.
We left there and went to Siachitema Mission to look at the progress of building a science lab. The Zambian Government has created a new regulation that requires any and all high school to have a science lab. Of course they have allocated no funding to support this new regulation. Therefore the community and the church is required to come up with the money to build something.
We stopped at Darren and Diane's for lunch. The chicken project is progressing nicely.
We drove to Zimba for dinner at the Zimba PWC Mission house. There were several people there from various countries staying there and helping Dr. Jones' at the Zimba Mission Hospital.

Today we started out going from Jembo Mission to Chabbobboma Mission. It was about 40 miles, and with the Zambian roads, the round trip took took about 3 hours. Chabbobboma is near Lake Kariba. Originally it was located near the Zambieze river. When Lake Kariba was built in the 1950's, it flooded a large area near the river. Many villages were required to be relocated.
Chabbobboma Mission has a Church, a clinic and a school. Miraculously (considering the roads), they have received many items from the containers. The school had lots of desks, books computers, science equipment. The clinic had lots of new equipment from the container also.
We went back to Jembo Mission to stay the night.

Wednesday 1/31/18
This morning we traveled to see several more schools, Malima, Syanyuka, Sinajola and Munyati
All of these schools have benefitted from the things shipped over in the containers. These schools are doing much better in terms of passing rate, community involvement and school spirit!
We drove back to Choma and had dinner with a group of people who work with Alfred in the Pilgrim Wesleyan Church.
We stayed the night in Choma.
