This morning we walked to Catharine's home to say hi to her and her family. She normally would have been by Alfred's house, but had cut her foot and had to stay home.

We came back to Alfred's, loaded our luggage and went to meet with the PWC national leaders for lunch. After lunch, we went to the airport for the flight home. Unfortunately when we arrived on time in Johannesburg, British Airways had overbooked our flight and given away our seats. So they gave us hotel rooms and rebooked us on the flight direct to Atlanta tomorrow night. We are scheduled to get home about noon on Monday.

This morning we drove out to look at some land for sale. The man had 3 wives and needed to sell off some of his farm! We rode with him down a bush road for about 3 miles. Brian was a little nervous when he shifted into 4th gear and all we could see ahead was grass taller than the hood! Alfred was surprised to learn that he had gone to Choma Secondary School with this man. Luckily Alfred and he didn't learn the same things about matrimony in school!

We left there and started toward Lusaka. We stopped in Mukwela and looked at their church and visited with the pastor. He was raising pigs in a small building in front of the church. Their current church has a thatched roof and rock benches.

We then drove to Kalomo and stopped by their church to see the benches Dave and Jim's team had built. They looked great and the pastor and his wife were very excited to have them! They were in the process of constructing a new children's building.

From there we drove to Choma to see the school supplies being distributed. Pharnwell had asked the schools to come to the Choma PWC Mission to collect their supplies and desks. There were 13 schools represented and either the principal or assistant principal of each was in attendance.

There were several trucks as well as cars and vans to haul the supplies away. There was a short meeting for the administrators to express their appreciation for all the help. The Zambia Post was also there to run a story.

We ate a late lunch in Choma and were surprised to see Wes and Lori and 10 of the kids from New Day Orphanage eating at the same place we were!

We left Choma and arrived in Lusaka for dinner and got back to Alfred and Muumbe's home about 9:30 pm.

Leonard's maize looked good too, but needed rain. Hopefully tomorrow.

We left Leonard's and drove to Son's of Thunder to meet with Sal and to see the dozer. Renee showed us the new birthing center that was scheduled to open shortly. The birthing center was very nice and was built entirely with labor that lives on Sons of Thunder. We looked at the dozer and it was in good condition.

We then headed for Livingstone for lunch. We stopped and picked up Hamchile and talked to him over lunch.

After lunch we went to David Livingstone College of Education to visit Carol. It was good to get to see her and she was very excited with her gifts!

John met us there and accompanied us the rest of the day. We then drove to Alfred's homestead land southeast of Livingstone.

This morning we left Zimba and went visit Dixon. Alfred had recently held a revival in Kanyama compound and Dixon had been the revivalist. While visiting him we asked to see his farm and the tractor and equipment that were given to him by the Northwest company to grow crops. He was growing cotton, maize, and soybeans. They all looked great, but needed rain. The new 60 hp tractor he was given was manufactured in India.

We then drove just down the road to see Leonard and his family. His tractor was in perfect shape!

Today Brian gave the Suzuki GS450 to Emmyson Sichikata. We then stopped by
the school where Lindi and Lulu are going to high school. They are seniors
this year. We weren't able to see them, since they were testing, but we
will stop by again on the way home. We were able to see two classroom of
desks that were donated. Everyone was very excited to be using them and
they looked great!

We left there and started towards Zimba. We were planning to stop at a
couple of villages along the way, but we ran into heavy rain just a few
miles south of Choma. Praise God for the rain! The crops needed the rain
and God's timing was perfect for us. We wouldn't have been able to get to
the farm yesterday if the rain had come earlier.

We continued to Zimba and had lunch in the Zimba Mission house. We then
walked to the Zimba PWC church to meet with pastor Shenford Sichoongwe. He
is one of 12 district superintendents for the Pilgrim Wesleyan Church of
Zambia. They have built a new church and are using the old one for
children's ministry.

Pastor Sichoongwe was very appreciative of his Suzuki 400 motorcycle! His
furthest church was 100 kilometers from the nearest road. He previously had
to walk or ride a bicycle to visit that church. Now with his motorcycle he
can get there easily.

We toured the school next door to the church and met the headmaster. The
students were practicing for an upcoming track meet. Some of the buildings
had been recently painted with the paint Dave and Kathy have sent over.
They looked awesome!

We then went to the Zimba PWC Mission hospital for a short visit. We came
back to the mission house and had dinner with one of the doctors who was
filling in for Dr. Dan and Joan.

We retired early tonight for a busy day tomorrow.

Panest and Monice's new house.

2/25/2015

A dambo on Panest's new homestead. This watering hole had water through the
entire dry season last year!

2-23-2015

This morning we went out to the farm to see Darren, Dianne, Panest, Monice and the kids. Panest and Monice have moved to the north side of the farm and have built a new house. They have planted 15 acres of corn and it looked to be around 40 bushel/acre corn. They also had several chickens. They are very happy in their new homestead.

Darren and Dianne have made great strides improving their homesite as well. They had a nice garden planted and and planted several fruit trees. Darren took around to see the newly surveyed boundaries of the property. We also looked at the rest of the corn. Dianne cooked us a wonderful lunch which we
ate before leaving in the afternoon.

We then drove about 1.5 hours to see New Day Orphanage to visit Wes and Lori and Blue and Darby. It was really exciting to see everything they have built since they opened in 2010. They have a corn grinder which is being operated Monday-Thursday. The demand from the surrounding community keep the mill running almost continuously. The profits from the mill pay for all the electricity at the orphanage. They are also raising broiler and layer chickens, and have just started to raise talapia.

The kids put on a performance of The Redeemer for us. It was wonderful! After the performance they had prepared peach cobbler, homemade cookies and homemade ice cream! A very very rare treat in Zambia.

We drove back to Choma to have a late supper with Stanley Simulilika. Stanley's wife and sister in law had prepared a feast for us. We had pork, lamb, goat, chicken as well as two types of salad and rice. This was not a good day for our typical Zambia weight loss program! Stanley runs a private
primary school (grades 1-7) and last year had a 100% passing rate for his 7th graders going to secondary school!

We left Stanley's got back to the mission house about 10:00 pm.

This morning we headed to Choma. We stopped in Mozumbuka for lunch.

We then drive to Semwendewege Village. While there we talked to the headmaster of the school and gave them some soccer balls.

We left there and went to the farm Phineas is keeping Alfred's cattle. We were very impressed with Phineas' corn and way of farming. His corn had no weeds and his cattle were being dipped and vaccinated properly. Phineas was so happy to see us that he wanted us to stay and eat. We had a delicious meal of nshima and chicken.

We left there and drove to Choma Pilgrim Wesleyan mission house. After supper, Stanley stopped by to greet us. We visited with him for a while and them went to bed.

We went to church this morning at the Jubilee Pilgrim Wesleyan Church. This is a new church plant that started in November of 2014. They are currently meeting in a school building with a dirt floor. There were about 100 in attendance this morning. The building was at capacity with some having to
stand at the rear. There is already a choir established and they were just as good as any we have heard. Brian brought the message from Matt 6:23-34 on the subject of do not worry, God will provide.

We stopped by Kabwata Pilgrim Wesleyan Church. Alfred has moved his offices here recently. While here, we met Annie Sitali and her father Steven. Annie is a 23 yr old, 3rd year medical student who is being sponsored. She plans to become a missionary or rural doctor and is well on her way.

2-21-2015 Arrival in Zambia

We arrived to beautiful weather in Lusaka. All our flights were on time. The only bad luck we had, is 3 of our 4 bags did not arrive.
