Today Brian gave the Suzuki GS450 to Emmyson Sichikata. We then stopped by
the school where Lindi and Lulu are going to high school. They are seniors
this year. We weren't able to see them, since they were testing, but we
will stop by again on the way home. We were able to see two classroom of
desks that were donated. Everyone was very excited to be using them and
they looked great!
We left there and started towards Zimba. We were planning to stop at a
couple of villages along the way, but we ran into heavy rain just a few
miles south of Choma. Praise God for the rain! The crops needed the rain
and God's timing was perfect for us. We wouldn't have been able to get to
the farm yesterday if the rain had come earlier.
We continued to Zimba and had lunch in the Zimba Mission house. We then
walked to the Zimba PWC church to meet with pastor Shenford Sichoongwe. He
is one of 12 district superintendents for the Pilgrim Wesleyan Church of
Zambia. They have built a new church and are using the old one for
children's ministry.
Pastor Sichoongwe was very appreciative of his Suzuki 400 motorcycle! His
furthest church was 100 kilometers from the nearest road. He previously had
to walk or ride a bicycle to visit that church. Now with his motorcycle he
can get there easily.
We toured the school next door to the church and met the headmaster. The
students were practicing for an upcoming track meet. Some of the buildings
had been recently painted with the paint Dave and Kathy have sent over.
They looked awesome!
We then went to the Zimba PWC Mission hospital for a short visit. We came
back to the mission house and had dinner with one of the doctors who was
filling in for Dr. Dan and Joan.
We retired early tonight for a busy day tomorrow.
